Know how Ramanand Sagar started Ramayana and how much struggle he had done
Filmmaker-director Ramanand Sagar went to Switzerland in 1976 to shoot his film Charas . One evening he went to a pub and ordered red wine. The waiter placed a large wooden box with wine on the table. Ramananda looked at the box. The waiter removed the shutter it was a TV. Ramanand Sagar was amazed as he saw colour television for the first time in his life. Five minutes later, he decided that he would leave the cinema and now his aim would be to show the stories of Lord Ram , Krishna and Maa Durga to the people through television. in India, T.V started in 1959. It was then called Television India. Very few people had access to it. In 1975, it got a new name Doordarshan. Till then it was limited to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata, till the 1982 Asian Games started to be broadcast all over the country. The expected success of 'Buniyaad' and 'Hum Log' in 1984 further increased the popularity of TV. Here Ramanand Sagar was enthusiastically preparing for Ramayana. ...
